File organiser for Windows

Organised by what they are, not where they fell.

Point Quidex at the mess. It reads your documents, scans, photos and recordings, works out how they group, and shows you the new layout before anything moves.

The Files page, on an invented collection. Flip the switch.

It reads the files

The text of documents and scans, what is in a photo, what was said in a recording.

You decide

Quidex proposes a layout. Drag anything you disagree with, and your changes stick.

Every commit can be undone

Rearrange in place, or build a copy in a new folder. An undo record goes to your Documents folder.

Why it exists

Search tools stop at finding.

Search finds one file and leaves the mess. Quidex reorganises the whole collection.

Documents

Read in full, every page.

Scans and photos

Scans are read as text. Photos are described, including any words in them.

Audio and video

Speech becomes searchable text.

Everything else

Archives, discs and installers are identified.

Groupings Quidex derived — three different collections

No templates

It learns your collection’s shape.

There are no preset categories. Quidex reads first, then builds folders from the groupings it finds: a photo archive by places and years, paperwork by clients and kinds of document.

Views — a way of looking. Views never move files.

Committing

Commit when ready. Undo any time.

Before you commit you see how many files will move, and every leftover pile by name.

Each commit writes an undo record to your Documents folder. For files on your computer, a double-click undo beside it needs nothing installed.

Stories

Nobody plans to end up with 60,000 files.
