A warning on first run

Because Quidex is new, Windows SmartScreen may warn about an “unrecognised app”. Choose More info, then Run anyway. This page will show the file’s size and checksum so you can check it first.

Quidex is distributed only through this page and the release page it links to. A copy from anywhere else may have been altered and is not supported. If you see Quidex offered elsewhere, please tell us.

System requirements

It runs on a normal PC.

At least 16 GB of RAM and a four-core processor. Faster hardware finishes sooner; the results are the same.

A machine that can stay on

A big collection takes days to read, and an enormous one weeks. A 50,000-file collection takes three to four days on a recommended desktop. On battery it pauses.

Internet access

To download Quidex, reach any cloud storage you connect, and for optional lookups, update checks and licence activation. Reading works offline.

Choose what Quidex should look at, and reading begins. Nothing on your disk changes until you commit.

In the first hours

Files become searchable as they are read.

Over the following days

Quidex shows how long is left. The proposed layout appears once it has seen enough, and keeps improving.
